David Weinstein

Storytelling through music: I create, adapt and develop music for all audio and video platforms such as movies, TV, video projects, webisodes, podcasts, radio dramas and stage work.  I have worked with and written for ensembles ranging from a piano or guitar to a big band, symphony orchestra and everything in between.

I have served as a composer, orchestrator, arranger, director, music director, producer for musical theatre. In that forum, I produce, adapt, and supervise recordings for Broadway Junior, TYA and School Edition series for Music Theatre International, Disney Theatrical Productions, Tams Witmark, Samuel French, Stage Works Media, Playscripts and iTheatrics. I wrote the scores for “The Joys of Sex”, “It’s a Hit!”, “The Adventures of Flat Stanley”, incidental music for “James and the Giant Peach” (Music and Lyrics by Tony-nominated Benj Pasek and Justin Paul), numerous independent films and video projects and was a score producer for “A Christmas Story Live” on NBC.

As a musician (I play piano/keyboard and upright and electric bass), I have toured with Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas”, “Smokey Joe’s Café” and “100 Years of Broadway”.  I have played for and arranged for many Broadway performers such as Laura Osnes, Norm Lewis, Rob Evan, Martin Short, Cady Huffman, Brad Little, Craig Schulman, Lillias White, Capathia Jenkins, Mandy Gonzales, Natalie Toro, Carter Calvert, Marc Kudish, and many more.

Finally, I am currently the Music Director at Nashville Children’s Theatre. In New York, I have conducted Les Miserables on Broadway, have played in various pit orchestras and have music directed and conducted many regional productions, cast albums and educational recordings.
